Meet Solana Hickinson, owner of Nails by Solana LLC in Farmington, where she’s turned her love of beauty and creativity into a growing small business. A Licensed Manicurist and nail artist, Solana specializes in acrylic, structured gel, Gel-X, gel manicures and custom nail art, creating personalized sets that reflect each client’s individual style. What started as a creative outlet quickly became something much bigger. “I originally started doing nails as a creative outlet and quickly realized how much I enjoyed the entire experience, from creating the design to seeing how happy a client is when they leave,” Solana shares. That feeling inspired her to build a business centered not only around beautiful nails, but around making people feel good.

For Solana, the experience her clients have in her chair is just as important as the finished manicure. “I wanted to create a space where clients could not only get beautiful nails, but also have a relaxing experience and feel like the best version of themselves,” she says. Solana sees clients by appointment at her nail station inside Opulent Oasis Beauty Studios in Farmington, with appointments available through her online booking site. Whether someone arrives with a specific design in mind or wants Solana to get creative, she loves creating something completely personalized while making sure every client feels comfortable, confident and cared for.

And while Solana loves the artistic side of what she does, it’s the relationships she’s building that have become one of her favorite parts of owning a business. “I love the creative side of nails, but I also really enjoy building relationships with my clients and creating an experience where they can relax, feel comfortable, and leave feeling confident.” She’s also proud of watching both her skills and her business grow from something she started on her own.
