Katie Holden Shuffler

Meet Katie Holden Sheffler, founder of The Well Counseling in Milford and South Lyon. Since opening her doors in 2014, Katie has been on a mission to make mental health care feel truly human - accessible, welcoming, and rooted in compassion. “The idea didn’t really come from inspiration, but passion,” she says. “A passion to help and support individuals to find healing in challenging times.” With two decades in the mental health field and a degree from the University of Michigan, Katie blends clinical expertise with genuine warmth and even a bit of humor, creating a safe space for people to do the brave work of healing.

At The Well Counseling, clients can reach out in whatever way feels most comfortable - email, phone, website, or even a quick DM. “We want to make that first step as easy as possible,” Katie shares. Whether it’s individual therapy, support through a life transition, or just needing a space to feel heard, Katie and her team are committed to meeting people where they are. Her approach has helped make The Well a trusted name in the community, where connection and care always come first.

When it comes to owning her business, Katie’s favorite part is twofold: “Being able to do what I love and providing a place for other talented people to grow in their field as well.” For her, it’s not just about the therapy sessions - it’s about building a community of professionals who share the same values of empathy, respect, and empowerment. The Well Counseling is more than a practice; it’s a place where people - both clients and counselors - can grow, heal, and thrive.
